Miranda

The CIQP certification focuses on the full breadth of Information and is not constrained by a focus on "facts in a database". One of the key objectives is to provide a structured skill set that can be applied to the "fact in the database" as well as the wider sense of unstructured/semi-structured information.

Hi, I am very interested in information quality - meaning treating information in its broadest sense including information in the unstructured domain (records, documents and emails). I would be interested in this certification providing it does not focus solely on data. Regards, Miranda

Lwanga, thank you for the challenge and your generousity.
I have secured another $200 from my employer, Great American Financial Resources, Inc. (GAFRI) to be used for the development of the certification program. I would appreciate having one of the officers e-mail me with the preferred contact name & mailing address so I can send the check that I have.

Best regards, Victor

Just want to mention that Data Quality has also been becoming an important research field inside Database community.

For example, many workshops have been co-located with top database conferences in recent years (such as CleanDB 2006 (http://pike.psu.edu/cleandb06/) with VLDB'06, IQIS 2006 (http://queens.db.toronto.edu/iqis2006/) with ACM SIGMOD/PODS'06, QDB/MUD 2008 (http://www.qdb08.org/) with VLDB'08.

Moreover, there is a newly created ACM Journal of Data and Information Quality (http://jdiq.acm.org/).

it is also worth mentioning that the ISO SQuaRE Software Quality standard has a component specifically addressing Data Quality.

SQuaRE is the latest incarnation of the ISO/IEC 9126 and 14598 standards.
